MANILA, Philippines — (UPDATE 5) First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo was stricken ill Friday night while on a US-bound flight with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, forcing their chartered Philippine Airlines plane to be diverted to Osaka, Japan, Malacañang officials said.

MANILA, Philippines — First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo's condition has stabilized after suffering from stomach cramps and back pains that had forced President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to make an emergency landing in Japan before midnight Friday, Malacañang said.
